Fortress bakehouse

The later fortress bakery was built in 1831 in the form of a caponniere, i.e. a specially fortified building, for defensive purposes. The two built-in ovens supplied the entire fortress garrison with baked goods. In 1995, the fortress bakery was extensively renovated and put back into operation as a temporary bakery. Nowadays, the fortress bakery can unfortunately only be admired from the outside as part of the historic fortress grounds.
