Barracks B (Thuringian State Office for Heritage Management and Archaeology)
Today's administrative building of the State Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments and Archaeology was originally built in 1686 as a granary, called "neues Schütthaus". After 1700 it was converted into barracks and used for military purposes until the 20th century. In 1821 the building, of which only the central part was erected at first, got its side wings and a new staircase at the back. Since 1920 it has been used as a residential building and was finally converted into an administrative building in 1992/93.
