Barracks A (now private apartments)

Several barracks belonged to the fortress complex on the Petersberg. The oldest was already built around 1672. A single-storey terraced house with eight entrances and a passageway in the middle. Already in the Electorate of Mainz, more accommodation was needed and it was added on to. Because housing was scarce in 1920, the house was remodeled and put to civilian use. In 1935-45 the Wehrbezirkskommando of the Wehrmacht moved in. In the GDR socialism the former barracks became the seat of an old people's home. Today there are apartments and offices here again.
