Experience Petersberg Citadel in all its glory
Tour of the grounds of the fortress (not including the listening tunnels)
Petersberg Citadel sits in splendour overlooking the old quarter of Erfurt. Built in the shape of a star, it was regarded as the most modern construction of its day and considered to be impregnable. Perched high above the city, the citadel has dominated the cityscape of the Thuringian state capital for centuries, and is a popular place to walk and while away the hours for locals and visitors alike.
On this tour, you will get to know the extensive grounds of the fortress. You will find out what the postern gate was used for and make your way through the dry moat to the gun caponiers. The tour comes to an end in the Commander’s Garden with a magnificent view of the city.
