Zitadelle Petersberg

Up to the only largely preserved Baroque city fortress in Central Europe

The Petersberg Citadel rises above Erfurt's old town - laid out in a star shape, it was considered the most modern fortification of the time and impregnable. Since 1990, it has been reconstructed with great attention to detail and at great expense.

As the crown of the city, Petersberg has shaped the image of Thuringia's capital for centuries and is a popular destination for Erfurt residents and their guests to linger and discover.
